Screen Shot 2019-07-18 at 9.26.53 AMPeople are trying to change someone’s humanity. Trying to change who anyone loves is crazy. What’s even crazier, the way they do it.

Conversion therapy is the pseudoscientific practice of trying to change an individual’s sexual orientation from homosexual or bisexual to heterosexual using psychological or spiritual interventions.

That is not normal. Why take that natural feeling away? The thing that brings people together. The feeling you have when you meet that special someone. The connection between two people. Love. Like The Beatles say: “Love is all you need”. Then why take that away from someone.

This is getting out of hand. Some countries are still not inclusive towards the LGBT community. Not only they keep them as outsiders, but they “handle things” by converting them. Yes, converting them. Changing them from homosexuals to heterosexuals.

They’re making that choice for them. Choosing how to love. Who to love.

This restriction of personality and self portrayal is unacceptable. Gay people should be able to live peacefully in their country being able to be themselves and with whoever they want.

I just don’t get why? Why can’t they have the same rights a heterosexual person does? Why can’t they love whoever they want? Being a part of the LGBT community is criminalized in many countries. Hard to believe, I know, because even though we’re in THE 21st CENTURY, some people still believe that being LGBT, means not being normal, or having a disease, and has to corrected. This has to stop.

What is happening to the world? What about inclusion? What about equality? What about love?

With their inhumane ways, they treat homosexuals as if they had a disease. As if they had something that had to be fixed. There is no valid or reasonable reason for someone to do this. It’s just basic homophobia.

I know it’s a big word, and I know it’s offensive. But what other name would you give to this action?

Most of the world still has this legalised, but some countries like Argentina, Brazil and the UK have completely banned this practise. In Australia for example, they’re banning this practise. EVERYONE SHOULD.

We shouldn’t keep this legal when it hurts people. Some who have gone through this state that they have nightmares about it. After going through the useless process, they can’t forget what they went through.

Adding to this, do they need evidence? Well, there was a study made in 2001 which states by professionals, that “there is no valid scientific evidence that sexual orientation can be changed”.

What else do they need? More evidence of things that are being broken?

Conversion therapy breaks a very important human right –a list of rights that were made for everyone, not only heterosexuals– The right to freedom of speech. Everyone should be able to express themselves and be themselves. Not have to hide or run away from something you feel, because you’re scared of what can be done to you to change. It’s unethical.

It’s unbelievable. How can they do this? They are people, human beings, like you and me. Why do this to them? They don’t deserve this. The fact that these countries are breaking a human right already is wrong. That list was made to be followed.

Not letting people be themselves, changing them for being different. Being different is not bad. It’s actually normal to be different. Imagine a world where everyone was the same. Boring…

The fact that there are still countries out there that are doing this is concerning, and it also makes me want to ask again, what is happening to the world?
