The Robert B. Gaw Theatre was filled with athletes, coaches and parents at 6pm on Thursday for the season three sports awards. Whispers were being passed around the audience about who would get MVP, MIP or the coaches award. Not only was the audience comprised of athletes, but also of seniors facing their last IASAS.
Mr. Brawn introduced the different teams that participated during season 3: badminton, baseball, golf and track & field and also congratulated them on how they went in IASAS.
The girls fast-pitch team did exceptionally well placing 2nd in IASAS, in their first season of fast-pitch, just missing out on gold.
A few more honourable mentions are, Bausch ‘20 going undefeated in IASAS and getting all tournament, as well as Jamie ‘18 getting second in the Individual competition in IASAS golf.
In track and field this year, we had some outstanding athletes who received medals for their hard work. The boys track and field team’s MVP was Michael ‘18 getting three gold medals in shot put, discus, javelin, and also broke the IASAS boys record in Discus. In the girls track team, Bente ‘20 got the coaches award this season but also was able to break a school record for the 3000m race.
To end the night, Mr. Farrington gave a shout out to someone that would unfortunately be leaving us at the end of the school year. Mr. Brawn, our Athletics Director, would be leaving ISKL at the end of this year. Mr. Brawn has organised many of the games and tournaments that we have participated in. He was given a four year IASAS pin for all he has done for us.
