TAS vs ISB Boys 2:30pm Bronze Medal Game Day 3

The stage was set for the third place game between ISB and TAS. The teams were introduced and the fans cheered as they heard their players names called on the speakers. The players ran in front of an applauding crowd, then headed back to their respective benches to get ready for this sure to be great matchup.


TAS obtained the early lead, scoring ten unanswered points against ISB to open the game. ISB was finally able to break through, and cut their deficit in half to 12-6. A foul against TAS helped ISB pull to within two points to end the first quarter 14-12. After a slow start, ISB found themselves right back in the game as they headed back to their bench.


Just as the first quarter ended with a foul against TAS, the second started with one, cutting the lead to one. Moments later, TAS saw their lead slip as ISB had come back to take a 15-14 lead. ISB continued to add on to its advantage over TAS with a three pointer by #1 to put them up 19-16. TAS then answered with two of their own. TAS still found themselves down 25-22 with the seconds ticking away before halftime until a last minute three tied the game at five going into the half.


The two teams found themselves evenly matched in the third quarter. TAS started the scoring with a two point jump shot, but ISB answered to tie the game back at 27. A three pointer by ISB gave them a 30-27 lead, but TAS quickly responded by scoring four and going up by one. The score kept going back and forth for the remainder of the quarter until TAS took a 35-34 lead with a last second layup sending the game into the fourth quarter.


The fourth quarter started with TAS scoring first, putting them up 37-34. TAS held the lead until a foul on TAS allowed ISB to score, tying the game once again, 39-39. More of the same continued – TAS went up by five, ISB brought it back to two. With 22 seconds left TAS led 47-45, and as the clock continued to wind down, ISB started fouling in an attempt for a comeback. TAS made both their free throws, putting them up 49-45 with ten seconds left. ISB countered with two of their own, but time was dwindling down, and two more free throws by TAS made it a two possession game, closing out the victory. The fans ran onto the court to congratulate their team, and TAS secured themselves as IASAS basketball bronze medalists.
